Hi,
Due to the 1900 Census records in Wayne County TN I have reason to believe that there is a good chance Howell (Howel) Staggs is a descendent of one Williamson Staggs. Numerous FamilyTree Maker searches have shown Howel and Sophrano (Sophrono, Sophrona) and several of their children included on Williamson Staggs family trees. There is a large amount of coincedence even with the misspellings.
I would very much like to talk with someone that has information on Howells father Abraham and Sophrona (Sophona)L. D. Staggs. I am very curious to learn as much as I can about Sophrona. I have reason to believe she may be Cherokee Indian. I have included information below regarding my ancestors that may lead back to Williamson.
Howell Staggs Lilly Staggs (Sophronal L. Daniels) m. abt. 1889-1890 possibly in Wayne Co. TN. Marriage records show H. Staggs marrying a woman with the initial L. for a first name and show the date 11-14-1889)
According to the 1900 census children of Howell and Lilly were:
James A. H.
Rosa A., Alford E.
Paris T.
George Dewey
The following siblings were mentioned on my gr grandfathers obit were P.T. Staggs, (I believe this may be Paris T.), Mrs. Gertrude Neal, Mrs. Notie Hardin, Mrs. Elsie Luna.
James Abraham Staggs married Lola Bessie Constable in Delta Co., Charleston TX 11-5-1911. Their children include Howard Gerald and James Obel (Opel).
Again, I very much would like to double check on the marriage certificate of Howell and Sophrona (Lilly) Staggs abt. 1889. I would also appreciate if someone can locate birth and or death certificates for both Howel and Sophrona.
