I too am searching for info on the DANIEL
DANIELS line about Cherokee family. My
line is through Josiah Daniel and Anne Williams of VA. Moved to NC. The son James
William Daniel, Sr. married Mary Mahala
Williams, and the son Greenberry Benjamin
Daniel married Nancy Ann Poole Aug. 16, 1842
in Madison Co., TN. The family oral history
states that Mary Mahala (Polly) Williams
had a baby on the trail to AR. and refused
to continue. The family stayed in TN. And
Nancy Ann Poole is also supposed to be
Cherokee. I don't know of any facts. The
family down to my grandmother Nannie Leona
(Daniel) Luckett was deathly afraid of enrolling into a tribe. She said that several time in the 20's and 30's people
tried to convince them to enroll. And they
moved to another county so that close neighbors would not turn them in. I am not
sure how much is true.

Do you have any information? the last bit
is that my great grandfather was William
Thomas Daniel son of James William Daniel
and Lucinda (AKA)(Nancy) Hankins. I don't know why Lucinda used Nancy for her name.
Also a side note: She is also known by some
family to have used the name Lucinda Hawkins??
A very confused family line with a lot of
intermarriage with Beshire/Williams/Butler/
Walton families.

So any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Robert Vogt
