I wonder whether my own family may be related to these Wiltshire Daniel(l)(s). My name is Michael Inkerman Daniels (b. Apr 2, 1950, Devizes, Wilts). I have a brother, John Inkerman Daniels (b. Jan 3 1942) Our father was Sidney Inkerman Daniels (b. Nov. 16 1914 in Devizes, Wilts, d. June 25 1951, Devizes, Wilts) The parents of Sidney Inkerman Daniels were Sidney Inkerman Daniels (Sr.) and Elizabeth F. Beard, married 1913 in Devizes, Wilts. I believe that Sidney Inkerman Daniels, Sr died in WW1. I have been told that there may be family links to Trowbridge, Wilts.
I have identified a certain Royal Navy Midshipman (later lieutenant) Edward St. John Daniel who won the V.C. at Sebastopol and Inkerman in the Crimean War, aged 17. Edward St. John Daniel is reported The Register of the Victoria Cross to have been born in Clifton, Bristol, Gloucestershire on Jan 17 1837, and to have died in Hokitika, New Zealand (killed in action) on May 20 1868. I am hoping to establish the connection between Edward St. John Daniel and my own family. It is possible that Edward was my gg grandfather. Please get in touch if you have any information that could help in my search. Information on the Upton Scudamore etc. Daniel(l)s would also be greatly appreciated. Please email any information to me at michael@mdani.demon.co.uk
