Cheryl,

Where did you get the information that Frances, who married Richard Daniel, was a Moss? Do you have a source for this information?

I am a Snoddy descendant as well. My gggrandmother was Elizabeth Ann Snoddy (b1818), daughter of John Snoddy (b1792) and Mary “Polly” Daniel, daughter of Richard. John Snoddy was son of Samuel (b1758, 1759, 1761?) and Elizabeth Cowen Snoddy. John and Mary Snoddy’s children were: Sarah (possible) b 1816 married Madison Thompson and died 1842, Elizabeth, Richard P. (death certificate of one of his children says Pinkney) b 1821 married Elizabeth Turner and is buried in Pickens County, SC, Mary born 1826 married Oliver H. Moss and died in Texas, and Robert b 1840 died in 1862 (War Between the States). I’m sure in your Snoddy research you have encountered the same names in the very early generations. Samuel’s children were: John, Andrew, Isaac, Alexander Jefferson, Ann, Margaret and Samuel, practically the same as his brother Isaac.

Elizabeth Ann Snoddy born 1/19/1818 married Capt. William Simpson on December 12, 1844, as recorded in Simpson family bible in my possession, and from there I descend.

I see from some of your posts that you descend from Andrew J. Daniel who is listed in some sources as a brother to Mary. There is conflicting information on Mary. I put her birth as between 1790-1799 but most likely 1795. She gives her birth as Virginia in the 1860 census but I think this is an error. All other censuses give South Carolina and death certificates of her children, that I have been able to find, say South Carolina. J.B.O. Landrum in his “History of Spartanburg County” 1900 states that Capt. John Snoddy resides 4 miles south west of Spartanburg married Polly Daniel daughter of Richard.
Their marriage was about 1814/15.

I believe you stated in one post that a brother of yours was participating in the Daniel DNA project. If so, do you have any results from that and would you mind sharing with me?

I would love to correspond with you, as we are definitely cousins?

You may email me directly.

Cynthia Simpson Hattersley
