I read your information on Tranquiliy Plantation and the deed and mortgage information was very interesting. I have some information from Spartanburg SC and the Spartanburg County Regional Museum of History. One of the entries is about Richard Daniel and his son Andrew Jackson Daniel. It noted that Richard moved to the Spartanburg area in 1837 from VA. That is about the same time that the property was settled if I am reading correctly. Could this be the Richard you are looking for?
I would be happy to share and have some pictures.
