Kathy, My DANIEL families were also in Heard, Coweta and Troup Counties about the same time as your Rufus Andrew DANIEL's family. We've never been able to make any connection to Isham J. DANIEL or his father, John DANIEL, born January 12, 1803, or John's parents, Littleton DANIEL and Elizabeth HINDS... however, there are some interesting notes that I've made regarding these DANIELS from records sent me from the Heard County Library by my cousin Sue.

First, your Rufus Andrew DANIEL's aunt, Piety A. DANIEL, born April 6, 1846 ~ died April 14, 1903... sibling to Rufus' father Isham J. DANIEL... Piety married John Henry LANE, born April 16, 1844 ~ died June 12, 1924.

The 1880 census, Red Bone** District 779 ~ 246 (page 37) shows Piety's family:
1. LANE, John T., 36 years, White, Male, GA., GA., S.C.
2. LANE, P. (Piety) A., 35, W., Wife, born in GA., Father born: South Carolina, Mother born: Georgia.
3. LANE, Elizabeth, 4, W, daughter, GA., GA., GA.
4. LANE, ASBURY**, 3, son, GA.
5. LANE, John D., 1, son, GA.
6. DANIEL, Elizabeth, 49, single, sister, born in GA., father in South Carolina; Mother in Georgia. (Betty, born June 20, 1831 ~ March 11, 1926, no record of marriage found.)

Other notes I have indicate Piety A. DANIEL~LANE and John (H., T., or both) LANE also had:
1. James W. A. LANE, born February 18, 1872 ~ died October 13, 1893. (Maybe this date should be 1873, since not on 1880 census? Or, he was ASBURY**, above, and that three should be an eight?)

2. John D. LANE, born December 30, 1878 ~ died June 23, 1890. This would be child five above, with census taken before his second birthday in December 1880.

3. Collins L. LANE, born December 30, 1882 ~ died June 24, 1884.

**Now, my DANIEL families lived in the Red Bone District too... Edmund DANIEL (m. JULIA** Anne WELBOURN) with his brothers William Henning DANIEL (m. Sarah A. PINKSTON~?)and ASBURY DANIEL (m. Sarah RANDLE or RANDALL). Their parents were Henning DANIEL and Hannah ASBURY** who had married in 1799 Georgia.

Your Isham J. DANIEL, born March 14, 1835 ~ died January 29, 1909... married Barbara A. MILLER, born June 16, 1840 ~ died January 26, 1914. (They are both interred at Miller Cemetery, Franklin District, Heard County, Georgia.) Isham was the son of John DANIEL, born January 12, 1802 in NORTH Carolina (note above under Piety and Elizabeth in the census)and Dovie DANIEL, born 1810 Georgia ~ died February 27, 1876. (They are both interred at Daniel~Lane Cemetery, Heard County.)

**John and Dovie DANIEL also had a son named Andrew Jackson DANIEL, born in the year 1844. In the 1860 Heard County Census, MY Temperance Pennina DANIEL had married Thomas WATTS and with them and their son, Daniel M. WATTS, age 24, is shown Andrew J. DANIEL, age 17... do you know who this Andrew may have been? He was at the right age to have been John and Dovie's son.

**Besides your Julia DANIEL, born 1864, whose parents were Isham and Barbara... there are other christian names within your families of DANIEL like mine... Delilah or Delila, born 1839; Jeptha, born 1878, and probably others.

I don't have anything regarding your Rufus Andrew DANIEL and his spouse; but, I see an Alexander P. DANIEL, born September 14, 1814 ~ died September 24, 1887, also in Heard County, Georgia, who married an Amanda UNKNOWN and they named their children:

2. Mary DANIEL, born February 15, 1843
3. William DANIEL, born 1844

5. RUFUS Alexander DANIEL, born 1847 ~ died 1858
6. ZYPHLIA or ZILPHEY S. DANIEL, born 1849
