My name is Wanda and I am doing research on my mother's ancestry. She was the daugher of James Ammie "Bud" Anderson, and his first wife Mae Gilford. "Bud" was the son of James Alexandria Anderson and Mary Frances Danford, who where married in Clio, Alabama on June 15, 1893. I have a photo copy of the family bible page listing this marriage.
At this time I am sure that Mary Frances Danford was born on October 18, 1878, in Clio, Alabama and was the daugher of Nicey M. (Smith) Danford. She had a brother Edmund "Eddie" Danford and a sister Melinda Jane "Lindy" Danford. Their mother Nicey M. (Smith) Danford remarried a man by the name of "Carroll" after her husband Daniel died on June 13, 1891, and had several children by her second husband (half sisters and some of the half brothers of Mary Frances Danford where Lelia, Mattie, Will, Pharoah, John and Major).
This information came to me through Jimmie "Mable" (Anderson) Henderson, the daughter of Bill Anderson, Bill was a son of James Alexandria and Mary Frances and brother of my grandfather James Ammie "Bud" Anderson. Mable lives in Coffeeville, Alabama.
I have seen in many ancestry files that Mary Frances Danford listed as the daugher of James M. Danford and Sarah J. Paulk, I now know that this is incorrect. There were three Mary Danford's, all born the same year listed on the 1880 Barbour County census and I believe that this is how the records have gotten mixed up.
I have also found documentation that verifies that Daniel Danford was the son of Joseph Danford born, January 15, 1813, and died June 1, 1894, in Barbour County, Alabama, and Malinda Jane (McKeller) Danford - parts of Joseph Danford's will mentions Mary Frances the wife of Jim Anderson, and Edmund and Malinda Danford.
This tied my Mary Frances Danford as the daughter of Daniel Danford, and not James M. Danford, I then found a marriage record for Daniel Danford and Nicey Smith so now I know I have the correct parents for my Mary Frances Danford, and the parents of her husband as being Joseph Danford and Malinda Jane McKeller.
I'm now looking for verification and anyone with documents on this family from Joseph Danford on back. I've seen where Joseph Danford's father is said to be Abraham, however this info was posted by the same individuals that had my Mary Frances Danford with the wrong father. HELP!!
Do any of these facts tie in with any of your Danford family records. I'm plannin a trip soon up to Alabama to visit the grave sites of my Anderson/Danford/Gilford and spend some time with living relatives of the Anderson family, would love to contact anyone connected to the Danford line living in or around the area of Coffeeville, and Bethany Cemetery near New Brockton, Alabama.
