Reply to David Lamb re; Thomas Dane, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Thomas settled in Yarmouth near the northern section called Milton. There is a road up there by the lakes formerly named the Tin Pot Road- for our Thomas, the Tinsmith? I also thought there might be a connection to the Boston Silversmith, Thomas Dane- but no proof. Our Thomas born prob. 1756 d. 1828;buried in Frost Park, Yarmouth- age on stone is chipped away. There is a Concord, Mass. branch from a Thomas Dane, carpenter coming in 1635-name continues for several generations.?
George Brown's genealogies are not reliable! His conclusion re: Andover link is faulty. The Ipswich and Andover Danes were closely related, all back to the 2 sons of John Dane 1st- John 2nd settled in Ipswich and Rev. Francis in Andover. But Brown is a starting point.I spent all summer in the Yarmouth, NS archives. Found info. that links Thomas to the Browns of Ipswich. His first wife was Mary Brown, d. James Brown and Mary Potter- buried in Yarmouth-I am 3rd gr. grandaughter of Mary Brown and Thomas.Appreciate your reply.Mystery of lineage still unsolved.
Searching also for Trefry link to Danes. Mary Dane, d. Capt. Stayley B. Dane, m. Frank Trefry 1887, Yarmouth, N.S.She had previous son Alfred Dane, born 1876;d 1940 later of Roxbury, Mass.; two sons later- Stayley Trefry and James Trefry.Alfred Dane a painter. My parents knew him! Can anyone with this Trefry connection contact me?
