This is quite a problem because there are conflicting records. FamilySearch has Benjamin KNOWLTON (bpt. 23 Nov. 1718, Essex Co., MA - 3 Apr. 1781, Essex Co., MA, s/o Benj.) & Abigail, m. lic. 22 Apr. 1756, Ipswich, Essex, MA, with children Malachi, Ephraim, Hannah, Esther, Hepsibah, Abigail, Benjamin, & Annie. This makes it unlikely that Abigail was born in 1722, & m1. 1741, as she would have been pretty old to have the youngest children (when she was over fifty). The Abigail that m. Samuel DODGE, b. 22 Dec. 1717, Ipswich, s/o Saml. was listed as Abigail, b. 24 Jan. 1719, Ipswich, dau/o John & granddau/o John DANE & Abigail WARNER.
There was an Abigail bpt. 5 Oct. 1734, Ipswich, d/o Nathl. DANE & Esther KIMBALL. Nathl. is listed as s/o John DANE & Abigail WARNER, so the two Abigails supposedly had the same grandparents. Most of the FamilySearch records do not have references, but one listed Larry HASKIN as a source. I have not checked any of this myself, except that TORREY's New England Marriages includes John DANE, of Ipswich, b. ca. 1644, m. 27 Dec. 1671, Abigail WARNER.
Have you seen the actual marriage record to determine whether the bride's name was DODGE and whether she was listed as a widow? What children do you have listed for Benjamin KNOWLTON & Abigail?
--not my line. I think I'm from Abraham DANE/DEAN from Maine to New London, CT, 1664.
