In the early 1980's just on a whim, I called telephone information and asked for the name of the grandson of Rose and Homer Eiler who was mentioned in the 1928 book. It turned out he was not only in the same town, he was living in his grandparents' house. He had all of Homer Eiler's records and was not interested in them. I called a distant cousin, Robert Morley, who was working with me on the Dancy family at the time and told him about the records. He went to the grandson and acquired the records. He made a copy for himself and one for me and sent the originals to a historical society in North Carolina where the family originated. I do not remember seeing such an old letter in my copies, but I was looking more for the Dancy information. We have recently moved, but when I locate my Dancy records again I can look for the letter you mentioned. Good luck.
