(The Tarboro Press was published each Saturday at Tarboro, NC, by George Howard. The following vital statistics were abstracted by Hugh B. Johnston, Jr., from the Library of Congress newspaper collection, that contains only a file from January 4, 1840 (No. 723, Vol. XVI, No. 1) through May 15, 1841 (No. 793, Vol. XVII, No. 20), from which the following numbers are missing: March 28, June 27, September 5, and December 26, 1840; and April 4, 1841.)
