I need help proving the maiden name of Mary Dancer b abt 1798 TN, wife of Ashall Dancer of Bastrop Co, TX. Family legend, from descendants of the eldest child, Elizabeth Dancer Wood(s) b 18 June 1815 TN, believe that her name was Mary Ward.
In recent years several ladies have joined the Daughters of the Republic of Texas based on descent from the 9th child of Ashall and Mary Dancer, Margaret Dancer Perkins b 1 January 1833 Shelby Co, TN. Membership papers give the name of Mary as Mary Blair and not Mary Ward.
Does anyone have documentation for the maiden name of Mary? I will be happy to exchange information on the Dancer families.
