I am a distant cousin of your husband. Celestia Dann was the daughter of Philip S. and Mary Ann (Cure) Dann. Orlando was Celestia's brother. Several PA Danns of this family were in the Civil War. Philip S. Dann had 8 brothers and 2 sisters. Their parents were Seth and Jane Munger Dan. The name was spelled with one "n" from there on back in time. Seth was born in in Westchester County NY in 1773, and moved with his parents to Duchess County, and then to present day North Norwich, NY in 1794 as the first settlers there. Seth's parents were Jonathan and Rachel Dan. They had 7 children. Jonathan was born at North Castle, Duchess County in 1752. He served in the Revolutionary War. His earlier ancestors were Francis (b.1727), John (b.1691), and Francis. The latter's birth date in unknown, but he emigrated from Barbados to Stamford,CT in 1684. His father, John, was originally from England and Francis was likely born there.
