DNA Holiday Gift Certificate Sale to end Dec. 31st
Hi everyone,
The remainder of our first testee's results came in.They can be viewed here: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Damron/index.aspx?fixed_columns=onhttp://www.familytreedna.com/public/Damron/index.aspx?fixed_columns=on
So far, there is no one to compare the results to yet. Results for others are due in early January, and in Feb. and March. There was one match to another Dam(e)ron outside of the DNA project. He was emailed and we await to hear from him. I will keep you posted on the study.
The DNA holiday sale from FamilyTree DNA (FTDNA) will end on Dec. 31st, 11:59 pm CST. If you are interested in ordering, a 25 marker Y DNA test is $15 off and a 37 marker Y DNA is $30 off.A 37 marker is recommended, although there is nothing wrong with starting off with less markers and upgrading to more later (as it fits the budget).
If you are a Dameron-Damron Family Association member, their $50 rebate ends in March. You can double dip and use both rebates for a total of $80 off.
To order, click here and scroll down to fill out the form: https://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=H30099&special=true.Please order by the INVOICE method so the rebates can be applied to your printed invoice.
Here's a question that I keep getting about the DNA study:"I see you got Lawrence Dameron's DNA.How did you get it?"Answer: Lawrence's DNA was passed down to his children. His Y chromosome is where we do the genealogy testing.Only boys get the Y chromosome (Girls get an X).After Lawrence's sons inherited his Y chromosome, they passed that Y down to their sons, and so on, through the generations. If you are a male Dameron/Damron,you got your Y chromosome from your father who got it from his father, and so on, all the way back in time. This is why we need males with the Dameron/Damron surname to participate in the study. If you are not a male, or don't carry the Dam(e)ron surname, you can find a cousin to take the test for you.
Will update the list when the next results come in!
Sincerely,
Cheri Mello
