The First DNA Results are In!
So far, 5 Dameron/Damron males have signed up for DNA tests. I received partial results for one participant so far (the others will be in after the new year).
This participant has a paper trail to Lawrence Dameron, the immigrant from England. His DNA came back with the haplogroup designation of R1b1c.That means his ancient ancestors were Cro-Magnon man. This ancient man was very prolific and had many sons, as R1b1c is the MOST common haplogroup in Europe! However, it appears that it's a rarer version of the most common group! As I get more results in from the others, I hope to find a rare marker that will give clues and allow for easy division of the family groups.
The DNA sale is still on through Dec. 31st.People who are also members of the Dameron-Damron Family Association were mailed an annoucement about a rebate from them as well. You can double dip and qualify for both. The YDNA 25 marker tests are $15 off and the YDNA 37 marker tests are $30 off.The rebate for the family association is $50 for the first 10 people to sign up.
If you would like to join the DNA project, use this link and fill out the form on this page (or you'll wind up on the retail pricing page): https://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=H30099&special=true
