Damits from Slovakia
Posted by: John Froebel-Parker Date: April 17, 2001 at 15:28:20

My great great grandmother was Susanna Damits from SZADEK, Slovakia (Austria-Hungary); married Jan Misslinzky----daughter was Carolina Misslinzky who immigrated to America, married JAN GREGA, (Eperies/Presov) and lived in NYC...daughter was CAROLINA GREGA, married Floyd S. Parker--died in Marathon, NY (upstate NY). Any information appreciated. Susanna was R. Catholic...cannot find a SZADEK in Slovakia, though there are in Poland...however, the stamp on her birth record is in Kronen and is in Hungarian, which means it must have been in Slovakia...had it been in Czech lands it would have been in German for that was under Austrian Crown, while Slovakia was under Hungarian Crown.
Many thanks!

(All were bilingual in German and Slovak and could converse in Polish, Czech and Hungarian according to my cousin and also to my grandmother, Carolina Grega Parker.
