Hi there,
I am interested in communicating with anyone researching the Damery family probably of French Huguenot extraction who lived in County Cork, Ireland. My ancestor, James Damery (1797-1865) married Elizabeth Gosnell (1794-1887), came to America around 1850 and settled in Granby, Hartford Co, CT where both are buried. Their son Richard Damery (1824-1890) married Mary Knight (1827-1874) and settled near Blue Mound in Macon Co, IL in the 1860's. Richard had a sister Mary who married John Payne. Brother George married Johanna Kerwin, brother James married Eliza Bell, brother John (who died at Andersonville Prison during the Civil War) married Eliza Jane Dixon, and sister Ursulla married Lewis Sykes. Is anyone else out there researching the Damerys?
