Funny I have the same note on my file of Joseph Sr and Jr. I don't know. I don't think it was referring to George Ball Dameron, son of Joseph Sr.
At that time: Joseph Sr. sold 131 acres of land in 1794 in Amelia County. He started paying taxes on 164 acres in Caswell County in 1796. I suspect he was liquidating his holdings and moving to Caswell County. George Ball Dameron was 24 years old and less likely to be involved in legal actions. George and John were often involved in legal actions of some kind. John and Joseph had some transaction over a slave at some time. I think it was referring to the older George (later of Lincoln County).
But I don't know for sure. Some of the legal records are a bit cryptic. I'm sure the clerks never suspected we'd be trying to squeeze out every bit of information 200+ years later.
