Hello John,
I am a fellow DAME descendent and researcher, my mother's maiden name was DAME. I came across an old message of yours from 2001, did you ever find any information regarding the DAMEs in England? The only info I have seen regarding that is that John was supposedly born about 1610 in Cheshire County in Nautwick. I have a book called "Colonial Era History of Dover, NH by John Scales which states that Deacon John Damm/Dam/Dame came from England with Capt. Thomas Wiggin's company in 1633. Since there was already a settlement at Hilton Point/Dover Point I assumed they landed there as both John Damm/Dam/Dame and Thomas Wiggin made their homes their until their deaths. Did you find out anything different?

I would be interested in any information you'd be willing to share and I'd be glad to do the same.
