"Compendium of Biography" contains a biography of George W. DAME, b. 10 Dec 1825 in Marion County, TN (the old original volume is in the Lawson McGee Library in Knoxville, TN- the new edition has some new material added by The Rev. Silas Emmett Lucas, 1980) . The older portion identifies George W. DAME as a member of the state legislature and tells that his grandfather, George DAME was born in Germany and his father John DAME was born in Botetourt,VA. So the Petsworth Parish, Gloucester, VA, birthplace for John DAME appears to be errant. I accept the biographical material which sounds as if it were written during George W.'s lifetime.
