I'm trying to put together the family tree of a branch of my husband's family, going back to a John Dalzell, born in the 18th century. His son Joseph Dalzell (1809-1852) married a Mary Spedding (1819-1876) and they lived at Stainburn Hall in West Cumberland in the UK. The family had an American connection however: they were married in 1840 and 3 weeks before their wedding their portraits were painted in New York.
I don't know if this is the branch of the Dalzell family related to the Earl of Cornwath. Can anyone help?
