Hi,

My name is Tom Dalzell (Thomas Gerard)and I was born in Belfast, also in Northern Ireland. My father always maintained that his people originally came from Scotland; the family myth was that the Dalzells were run out of Scotland for stealing horses - I don't know how authentic that is! His brothers and sisters were all good living Presbyterians. I never heard anything about Indiana but I do know that some of his relatives went to Canada; I notice the name often enough in Canadian (Toronto) libraries. My father married a Roman Catholic and as it happens I am a Catholic priest. Strange how things turn out.

I also remember my father saying that he had an uncle who lived near Larne, Northern Ireland. He is supposed to have owned Islandmagee but lost it through drink. Again I don't know how authentic that is, but given my father's good living family and their still telling the story, it could well be true. Sorry I never heard about Indiana.

All the best with your search.

Tom Dalzell.
