I have some information, not all yet confirmed, that could be of interest to your search. My gg grandmother was Margaret Jane Dalzell (1860-1921) of County Down, Ireland. In 1878, she married Robert Alexander Minnis of County Down. The two had seven children born in Katesbridge, County Down before they emigrated to the U.S. (Brookline, Massachusetts) in the late 1890's. My cousin just returned from a visit to Ireland where she connected with a distant relation who showed her the old family home in Katesbridge which is an itty bitty place in the area known as Shannaghan. Margaret Jane (Dalzell) Minnis' death certificate gives the names of her parents as Robert Dalzell and Jane Wilson. At www.family.search.org, I found that an LDS church member has submitted a file which contains the name of Stewart Dalzell, born 12 Feb 1876, to parents Robert Dalzell and Jane Wilson in Shannaghan, Banbridge, County Down. Also, the website below has transcriptions of Banbridge births and lists the following Dalzell children born to Robert Dalzell and Jane Wilson: Agnes (1866), Essy (1868), David (1870), Robert (1872), and Martha (1874). http://www.raymondscountydownwebsite.com/html/banbridge_k2.htm Neither your Stewart or my Margaret Jane are listed at this website, but it is quite possible that they were siblings from the same family. Finally, the Griffith's Valuation Index 1863-1864 lists a Robert Dalzell in Shannaghan, Newry, Down. I can be reached at capechick@adelphia.net if you would like to dig into this possible connection a bit more. Lori Jones Notify Administrator about this message?
