Hi Georgi I am also trying to find information on the Daly (Daley)(Dayly) line from that area. The following may be of some interest to you. You can see the information I have on the Daley line on My WEB page http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/d/a/l/Thomas-J-Daley/index.html?Welcome=1045521586 ***** I am trying to find a tie back to Ireland on the Daley side of my Family Tree. Michael Daley was born 1795 in the Townland of Ballyroebuck, Parish of Kilrush, Barony of Scarawalsh, Wexford County Ireland. He married Elizabeth Curran who was born 1799 in Ireland. They had 7 children the first two were born in Wexford County Ireland and the rest in Chelsea Quebec Canada. (1)Richard born 1827.......(2)Sarah born 1830 (3)Owen born 1832.........(4)Catherine born 1834 (5)Anne born 1836..........(6)Abigale born 1838 (7)Bridget born 1842 Michael and Elizabeth came to Canada about 1833 from Ireland as Owen was born in Ireland and Catherine was born in Canada. It is believed they came from the Townland of Ballyrobuk, Parish of Kilrush in Wexford County. This information is what the records of the Rideau Canal states and it is believed that Michael left behind a brother Owen. They Homesteaded on the North half of Lots 25 & 26 Range 15 Hull Township close to what now is called Farm Point, St. Stephens Parish, Chelsea Quebec. Census of 1842 indicates 12 people living with them, but no names are given. Census of 1851 mentions Bridget Daley Sr. age 74 years. Many immigrants who worked on the Rideau Canal were given land grants for payment on there work. It has been speculated that Michael may be the brother of Richard Daly. ******* I recently obtained the following information from a gentelman who is from that area in Ireland and he was able to give me the following information. ***** Yes, the Dal(e)y family were from the parish of Kirrush, in the townland of Ballyroebuck. (Townlands are peculiar to Ireland. They are the smallest division of land,in rural Ireland. They equate to a Street in a town ! For example. Ballyroebuck consists of 574 acres) They spelled their name as Daly; Daley; Dayly etc during their period in the parieh. Aidan, Moses, Michael, Catherine and Sarah were family names I have most heard of in the Daly's. I had not heard of Richard or Abigale.but they may have existed in thee previous geeneration. The family has now died out, the last male, Aidan, died about 30 years age. He had a nephew; his sister Katie married John O'Brien, Aclare, Myshall, Co. Carlow.. They had a son who is married and has a large family. I dont know of the whereabouts or the name of their daughter. Next nearest relation to the Daly's is the Murphy family of Knockaree, Bunclody. Their grand mother was Catherine Daly, married to Patrick Murphy (Patrick was a grand nephew of Fr. John Murphy, C. C. Boolavogue, the patriot priest of the Rebellion od 1798 -such a defening moment in Irish history. I had a strtoke ssome tim e ago and am not of great assistance to you now. So ,much for now. Rory Murphy. Dear Tom & Anne, The data I gave you was practically all I could recall on the Daley family. The addresses I gave you for Paddy Murphy and the O'Briens of Aclare are in fact the correct addresses to reach them I doubt if either of them are on e-mail. You could reach Paddy Murphy by phone at:- 053-54-77227. I have not a Phone number for the O'Briens By the way you should ask paddy for the addresses of his three sisters (two of whon live in England, one in Ireland). They may have more family lore than Paddy. Rory Murphy. ******** I hope this may be of some help. If you can tie any of this information together please let me know Regards Tom Daley Notify Administrator about this message?
