Nicknames are almost impossible to research. "Church" was usually a nickname for "Churchwell". I can find no Chhurch or Churchell in 1850 Pittsylvania County. There was a CSA veteram, C.H. Dalton, in Henry County, born 1843, wife Mary.

Do you know his wife ? Any names of sons ? Anything.

I assumne you meant "Church" - not Chutch as above ?
