This seems to rule out the possibility of a Stair connection, at least to the Australian Dalrymples.
I know that John Stair was born in Pennsylvania 1824-1827. But it does raise the possibility that
another line did the same thing, namely use the Stair name for a middle name. When they came to
America, it is quite possible that they dropped the Dalrymple and used their middle name as their
last name, which I found to be the case in another of my ancestors. Thanks for the info.
