Gone Fishing: Joseph Reading Dalrymple!

Our Family Mystery: Searching for the place of death & burial site of gr grandfather JOSEPH READING DALRYMPLE (Hunterdon Co. NJ family) s/o William Abbott Dalrymple & Gertrude Heath. B. 20 March 1865. m. Altha Olivia Bennett d/o Joseph Rittenhouse Bennett & Leonora Ann Barrass.
JOSEPH READING DALRYMPLE disappeared between 1892 and 1895 from Port Jervis NY, leaving wife and 3 children: John Ellis, Mabel Eleanor and Minnie Edna. Family story is that he had "gone fishing"!!! From letters there appeared to be financial difficulties, and earlier his wife had returned to her parents in Jersey City NJ w/children for a time while Joseph R. continued to work in Port Jervis and live in a boarding house. So either lost or sold their home there.
Grandmother said he died in a RR accident, but don't know if that is something she was told or something she assumed on her own. He worked as a brakeman for the NY Erie & Lackawanna RR in Port Jervis, so a possibility, but no record found.
In 1891 Joseph Reading's father, William Abbott, sold his farm near Mt. Pleasant, and he and his wife, Gertrude also disappeared.
Of his siblings, know where all of them ended up with the exception of Elizabeth Ann who m. George Marshall, and Lavinna Catherine (Kate) who m. John Dalrymple (don't know relationship of John). Possible all my missing D's ended up with either Elizabeth or Kate.
Have searched all the obvious, and not too obvious places, including hot attic where RR's records were stored.
Help! Please keep an eye out for Joseph Reading!
Thanks!
