Info on Col. J.H.E. Dalrymple, 1819-1889

I am looking for information on Col. John Hamilton Elphinstone-Dalrymple. The col. served with the SCots Fusilier Guards and was the commander of the 2nd Battalion on duty in Canada during the American Civil War.
I know that he served in the Crimea and was decorated. He possibly held a GCB, but I am not sure.
I am most interested in his military record. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
