Sandra Arnold, It is my recently formed belief that the Anne you are asking about was born Anne Wood, ca. 1722, daughter of John and Anne (maiden name unknown, some say Billingsley) Wood. From the Maryland Calendar of Wills, John Wood wrote his will on July 28, 1724 in Calvert County, Maryland. After his death, it was submitted for probate, on February 17, 1725/26. In it, he left his entire real estate to his eldest son, John and his personal estate to his three children, William, Edward and Ann. Witnesses were a Benjamin Wood (I believe firmly to be John's brother), John Bowles and Charles Doring (a/k/a Dorring). Again from the Calendar, Anne Wood (pretty clearly the widow of John) wrote her will on February 4, 1743/4, with probate on March 20, 1743/4. She gave personalty to her daughter Anne Williams, widow of John, and to daughter Anne and sons William Wood and Edward Wood, the residue of the estate "according to the will of dec'd husband John". The witnesses were William Whittington and James White. I believe that shortly after the death of Anne Wood, her widowed daughter, Anne (Wood) Williams, married John Dalrymple. I believe the John Gray who was one of Anne Dalrymple's executors might have been the brother of the Margaret Gray who had married Anne (Wood) (Williams) Dalrymple's uncle Edward Wood. I believe the Benjamin Wood who was a creditor of AWWD's estate was her uncle Benjamin, brother of her late father John and her late uncle Edward Wood. I believe that the William Wood who was a next of kin was the nephew of AWWD, the son of her brother William. Like you, I am puzzling over how to fit Sabret Wood into the family. I have some ideas on Sabret if he is your primary focus. You can contact me directly at duaneaboggs@hotmail.com Notify Administrator about this message?
