Our family is seeking the relatives/ancestors of Francis S. Dalrymple born in New York somewhere (possibly Livingston Co) 17 Dec 1834. His first marriage was to Sophia Philhower. 2 children born to them Henry William or William Henry? 19 May 1860 and Anna b. 1862 who died in infancy. Sophia died after 6 years of marriage in 1859. Second marriage to Mercy Haywood Stickle, a widow with a child, Carrie in 1867( who grew up to become a concert pianist). Her son George Stickle had died at age 3.
Francis and Mercy has 3 children Gracie R. died age 6 and Genevieve Augusta died at 3 months and Lewis Clayton, born 1880 in Mt. Pleasant, Livingston Co., N.Y. who was my husband's grandfather, his mother was Esther Dalrymple.
L. Clayton was 3 when his mother was thrown from a horse and died. Three years later when he was 6 his father died.
He was raised by an aunt and husband whose last name was Potter. We know that Clayton's paternal grandmother lived next door to his parents with his stepbrother, Henry, at the time of the 1880 census. Her name was Mary A. born in 1812 according to census in New Jersey. Her husband was also born in N.J and may have been Henry E.Dalrymple. We know that there was a brother of Francis S. not too far away who had a son named Amos. The brother may have been Wesley b. Oct 1837. They may have had a sister named Ruhannah.
We are interested in finding this family. Does anyone have info on them. Thank you in advance. Janet Heathman
