Jeannie,
My research suggests you are a descendant of John Dalrymple (1793 - 1879) and Sarah Williamhurst (1801 - 1882).
John was the owner/operator of a small ship "Jane Lockhart" which was based in Roseau, Dominica. The ship operated between Roseau and London, carrying supplies for John's brother, Alexander and other merchants and plantation owners on Dominica and carrying the sugar and coffee grown on their plantations, back to England. This was during the first half of the 19th Century.
John and Sarah had four children - John Laidlaw Dalrymple (born about 1830), Sarah Jane Dalrymple (born about 1831) Alexander Dalrymple (born about 1832) and William Charles Dalrymple (born about 1836).
Unlike his father whose interests lay in Dominica, John Laidlaw went to seek his fortune on the Island of St Vincent. John married Evelina Todd Hughes at St Georges Cathedral, Kingstown, Island of St. Vincent on 12 September 1866 and subsequently had at least 3 children - Ada Gertrude, born 11 January 1869, Constance who was born about 1874 and John Oscar Gordon born 25 September 1875.
John Oscar Gordon emigrated to New York from the Island of St. Vincent around 1898, married a Welsh girl Winifred Maud (surname unknown) and had two sons - Gwynne Weston, born 1903 and Eric Gordon born 30 July 1908. For your information, Eric Gordon is still alive at 98 and lives in Lakewood, New Jersey.
Jeannie, would you be able to provide me details of Gwynne Weston's wife - all I know is that she was called Madeleine/Madelynn and also of your father Gordon Franklin/Franklyn and his children including yourself.
