Hello. The Dallas book that I am referring to starts with Robert Dallis and traces his chilren, their chrildren, and so forth. To answer your question, the book is about his family. Chapter two of the book discusses Virginia and it says this:
"The earliest known ancestor of the Dallases of Southern Illinois is Robert Dallis who was first located inWilson County, Tennessee in 1820. He is known to have migrated there from Virginia. Research into Virginia reveals two Robert Dallises: One found to be living in Washington County, VA in 1800 and one found in the Soutern Districtof Pittsylvania County. No attempt has been made to ascertain which of these is the father of Joshuar Dallis and the grandfather of the early settlers in Southern Illinois. Virginia research is quite difficult b/c the 1790, a part of the 1800 and 1810 census records were burned by the British in the War of 1812."
My understanding is that Robert Dallis (1775-1838) married Phebe Morgan (1779-1839). However, that is as far back as I have. Any information on these would be appreciated. Thanks again.
