Seek information on ancestor (my great-grandfather) and his other descendants. John William Daley, born circa 1845 in Canada, crossed the border during the Civil War at Ogdensburg, N.Y., and enlisted in the 142nd New York Volunteers. He saw action during the storming of Fort Fisher, N.C., and the final stages of the Virginia campaign, with the Army of the James. He moved to Dakota Territory and settled north of Fargo, at Hunter. He was quite active in the GAR.
