Hi Cousin Coleen

It seems like we have corresponded before. Were
you at one of the Dailey-Butts reunions in
Visalia, CA? My descent from Pardon and Lydia
Daley is through their daughter Sarah Daley who
was born 10 Sep 1825 in New York, and who married
William Moore, 31 March 1850 in Ellenburgh,
Clinton Co, NY. She died 21 Feb 1901 in Ceres,
Stanislaus Co, CA.

Shortly after William and Sarah were married, they
moved to the Lake George area of Warren County,
New York where they lived for a few years, then
came to Ames,Iowa to visit family members, and
that was Sarah's brother, James Daley who a little
later also moved to California but settled a
little farther South of Visalia in the town of
Porterville.

It is of interst that your ancestor Parisse
spelled the name as "Dailey" whereas his brother
James, who lived a little farther South, spelled
the surname as "Daley". This makes it easier to
research the two families years later because you
can often separate them with the way they spell
their name.

My ancestors William and Sarah (Daley) Moore came
to California by wagon train in about 1858-1860.
They first settled in Sacramento County, but later
moved to the Del Puerta Canyon area of Stanislaus
County, CA.

The father of Pardon Daley is thought to be Samuel
Daley, whose wife was Martha and who were
residents of Washington Co, NY. He died in 1806
and his occupation was listed as a pathmaster
which believe had something to do with building
roads. His father was another Pardon Daly who is
thought to have been born in Rhode Island. In
some early records of Washington Co, NY, he was
referred to as a fencesitter, which I believe has
something to do with estimating or collecting
taxes.

I haven't researched this line now in a good many
years.

I will be anxious to hear from you and find out
how you fit into the Parisse Dailey family. I
believe there is evidence that Parisse was born
in Canada.
