Dales from Antrim Ireland
Anyone looking for early Dale families from around Larne and Carncastle in Ireland coming to Canada around 1816 might want to check around St. Andrew's East and the Eastern Townships of Quebec...also along the Ottawa River, both sides, paying attention to Prescott and Russell Counties in Ontario and Pontiac, Papineau and Hull areas in Quebec. There was a bunch in the area of Clarendon, Pontiac, Quebec and a few families in Buckingham...several in Prescott and Russell. Some in Ottawa...(Carleton County). They married several Loughs (pronounced by my families as Law. As they were Scots-Irish presbyterians I assume it is the anglicized version of Loch...pronounced Lock, but with no hard 'k' sound (clear your throat, it sounds like the German 'ch' sound). A loch is a lake. There were two Lough/Dale families travelling together originally but the children of these families were the ones to move upriver. Good Luck to all!
