Looking for connection to Michigan line

I have just come across this forum. I only recently began looking into my family's history after going through papers and mementos following my grandfather's death and my father's recent bout with cancer. I am originally from Jackson, Michigan and I am told that my grandfather, Verne Lawes Dake came to Jackson from either Boyne City or Newberry in the 1920's. When I was a kid in the 60's, we attended reunions and somebody published a genealogy book every ten years. Unfortunately, my father has misplaced his copies (the last that he had was from the 1970 publishing) that went back to someone in New York state circa 1840. I would like to find out where my line fits in with the research that you have all been working on. My ascendency runs through my father, Dorman James Dake(b.Jackson, MI 1935), grandfather, Verne Lawes Dake (b. Boyne City, MI 1908), ggrandfather, Jonas Dake (b.??), gggrandfather, Thomas(?) Dake (b.??). Can anyone tell me where I fit? Does anyone know who (if anyone still does) publishes the genealogy book every ten years? Thank you for your help!
