DAKE Historian, Leslie Green passes away

Among the well studied DAKE historians I have learned from is Leslie A. Green of South Carolina. Les, born in 1915, passed away on March 9, 2000. His health had been questionable the last several years.

I have listened to Les on more than one occassion recall when he stared out his HS English class window wondering where is Mother's (Clara Jane Dake) family came from. That was in 1932. He spent decades studying DAKE family history without the use of computer's. Can you imagine that amount of effort!? It gives me a headache just thinking about this hobby without a computer!

There were other great Dake historians prior to Leslie A. Green. There are others on the job today. But we have all benefited from his work.

Some would raise questions about his work. But some have raised questions about my work. I have a warm spot in my heart for Leslie Green and the efforts he has made to record the history of the New England Deake/Dake's!
