Another update...I have now found my ggg-gf John T. Dake in the 1861 Ontario census. He moved from his home in Scugog Township in Ontario County where he was found in the 1851 census. He is now located in the next township west, Reach Township of Ontario County, Ontario. He is staying at the Inn of, what is most likely his brother, Hiram E. Dake; listed as an innkeeper. Along with Hiram (age 32) is his wife, Nausia (?, difficult to read) (33) and their daughters: Sarah (11), Margaret (9), Catherine (7), Matilda (5) and Eliza (1). There are three unrelated servants in the household as well. Then there is what is presumably Hiram and John T.'s parents: Thomas (68) and Sarah (64). Then John T. (42), John Jr. (6), Charles (18) and Benjamin (5). Hiram, Nausia, Thomas and John Sr. are all born in the US. The children and Nausia are born in Upper Canada. There is also recorded one death in the family for the year, a 40 year old woman from consumption. This, undoubtedly, would be John's wife Elizabeth as he is listed as a widower. Thomas and John Sr. and John Jr. are listed as laborers. All of the US born are either listed as Baptist or Bible Christian sect of the Methodist Church. Does anyone have a list of Thomas and Sarah's children or of Thomas' parents? Could this be the same Thomas Dake that is listed as a son of John Dake and Mary Ann Polly Allen, born in Greenfield, New York in 1790, on the LDS site?
