Susannah "Susan" Zigler (daughter of Michaael Zigler and Mary Maderson was born about 1845 in Ohio and was killed JUL-11-1869 during a rescue attempt by the US Calvary at Summit Springs, near Sterling, Logan County, Colorado. On May 30, 1869 two of her children were killed in the Spillman raid in Lincoln County, Kansas. One was left for dead, but recovered (Willis Daily) and she and baby Alice Alderdice were taken by Indians along with another German lady. Baby Alice was killed a few days later.

Susanah's first husband, Willis's father, was James Alfred Daily, a soilder. He died of thyhoid when Wills was about 3 weeks old.

Susan's second husband was Thomas Alderdice. In September of 1868, Thomas Alderdice along with Susans brother, Eli Zigler, were with Col. Forsyth as scouts and fought the Battle of Beecher's Island, Coloraado Territory.

A great, factual source of Info on these events is Jeff Broome's "Dog Soldier Justice". Susannah is the main person in the book.
