You didn't say where they lived but if you know when and where John died I suggest getting his death certificate. If he doesn't have a death certificate or if it doesn't say anything about his parents then try to get his siblings' death certificates. The same is true of obituaries. If nothing else they may say where they were born in Pennsylvania.
Also please list the sisters and who they married. Someone may not know anything about John but they may know something about the sisters.
