A John Daily married one of my Hawkins relatives, Sarah Hawkins on September 26, 1833 in Monroe County, AL. I'm assuming that John was the son of Alexander Hawkins who was living in Chestnut, Al at the time (Supposedly the line goes John, Alexander Jr., Alexander, Sr, Owen Daily, who was an indentured servant who left Ireland in 1690). Sarah lived in Chestnut, AL with her father Peter Hawkins from Newberry County, Prosperity, SC. Peter Hawkins had a close relationship with the Daily family. He and Alexander Daily (Alexander's middle name or nickname may have been Barbary - His last of 5 wives was Barbara- could be references to Barbary were to her) were members of the Concord Baptist Church in Chestnut where they were founding members. They were both excommunicated from the church in July of 1841. The reason was that both Peter and Alexander were anti-missionary. Any information about the Daily - Hawkins Family would be appreciated as I'm researching the Hawkins Family. I was told that a Jake or Jack Daily had a store in or around Chestnut and store logs may be available somewhere. I haven't been able to locate them. Alo either Jack or Jake (may be nicknames) had a blacksmith shop. Locating the store logs would be a gem. Thanks, Charles Charles Notify Administrator about this message?
