Research I've done indicates that "Dail" is a spelling varation of the Scottish surname Dalzeil or Dalyell. This is one of the oldest surnames in Scotland dating back to the 800's. It has a long and interesting history that includes Sir Thomas "Tam" Dalzeil, General of the Czar's cossacks, Commander in Chief of the Scottish Army and the individual who raised the Royal Scots Gray 2nd Dragoon Reg. There is also another line of Dalzeil's who carry the title of Earl of Carnnack. The Royal Scots Gray Reg gained fame at Waterloo when their charge broke the French square and they captured the French colors and standards. they are also the regiment that started the wearing of the bear skin busby's and are the only regiment allowed the wear the Imperial French Eagle with the notation Waterloo 1815 on their busby's in reconigation of their charge at Waterloo...brian
