I am sure that Matthew Deal/Dail is actually Matthew Dail. He was born in Pitt Co, N.C in 1820 and married Jutry Slaughter (Dail) in 1847. His father was Paul Dail born 1799 in either Greene or Duplin Co. N.C. Matthews mother was Olive Manning (Dail) and one of his grandmothers was Elizabeth Manning, another was Matthew Slaughter.

Mathew Dail of 1820 had several kids and one of them was a Matthew Dail (Jr) born in 1859.

I think Paul Dail was the son of Theophilus Dail (born Greene Co 1775) who married Elizabet Manning Dail. I believe there are two Matthew Dails born about the same time but they represent two different family strings. The Matthew Dail of Paul Dail and Olive Manning emanates from Theophilus and Elizabeth Manning Dail whereas the other Matthew Dail emanates from One Abel Dail and "Mary" with Abel Dail being born about the same time in Pitt Co.
