I found the following in searching ancestry.com records:
Benjamin Hicks (Hix) Daffron (Also given as Berry H.) died of typhoid fever in service to CSA April 18, 1862. He was a member of Company H, 25th Alabama Infantry. His brother Cicero died died after November 1862. Survived by Noah Daffron, father.
Hix Daffron and his wife Martha are found in the 1860 federal census for Trout Creek, Townships 14 and 15, St. Clair AL. His birthplace is SC.
I think this young man from St. Clair is your Berry H. Daffron. Interestingly, my Berry H. Daffron is also "Benj Dafford" in at least one record. I'm wondering if "Berry" was not a misreading of "Benny" or "Benj". At any rate, there does seem to be a connection between these two families. Benjamin is not a common name in the family.
