Michael, like Milda Youmans, I am also researching the Daffern/Daffron families of Titus and Bowie and do not have anything on "John". One thing I did notice however is that you say she took the children to AR after the Civil War and they were born in 1866 & 1868. The Civil War ended in '65. There is one Daffern named Jefferson that died in the Civil War and left a widow from that general area.
