Dear Beau,
I have an Elsha Daffin (He was 13 at the time of the 1880 Falls Co. census). This would make his birth year around 1867. Is this the same one as your ELias. Jackson Daffin and Cecelia(or Celia) Dubose were his parents andboth are from Clarke Co.Alabama. Andrew and Jackson are 2 of the 6 sons of James Daffin that came to Texas in the 1880's. Jakson's occupation is listed as minister so this might be the right one. Carolina, his eldest daughter married a Dr. Horace E. Whatley (also from the Clarke Co., AL area) and their daughter Emmie Cecelia Whatley is my great grandmother on my maternal side. They were living with Jackson and his family at the time of the 1880 census.(Emma was 11 months old).

Hope this is of some help. Good hunting,

Marlene Pavelka
