Dafferns in the Midlands
Hi everyone
It's a funny feeling reading these messages in this forum knowing that most of us are very likely related in some way!
My Father is John Henry Daffern (known as Jack) and born in 1919 (he's 81 now) I'm the youngest of 8 boys & four girls, 2 of the boys and 3 of the girls are from a previous marriage. He comes from Fallings park in Wolverhampton and moved to North Wales some 40 years ago, where most of us were born.
He is one of 14 children, 6 boys Walter, Geoffrey, Gordon, Douglas & Roland, and 8 girls, Joyce, Majory (deceased) Gladys, Susan, Dorothy, Mabel, Rose & Nancy. Most of these are still in Wolverhampton or surrounding.
His Father (my Grandfather, who died before my birth) was Walter Daffern, married to Annie Wood both born abt 1888, Walter had 3 brothers, Jack, Charlie and Joe. My Greatgrandfather was called Jack, married to Annie Eales. Both my Grandfather & Greatgrandfather are from Birmingham, the Selly Oak area I believe.
Sorry to go on, but I have just recently gleaned this information from Uncle Walter so I'm putting it up before I forget! If anyone sees any connection with their family, let me know.
Looking forward to your replys.
Nigel
PS I'm just about to embark on a 6 month backpacking trip around Europe, the Far East & Australia so if there are any Dafferns around who fancy meeting up drop me an email at [email protected]
