Ira Frank was a half-brother to my grandfather Byron Dekalb "Dee" Dacus. His father was John Dawson Dacus, a Civil War veteran and a gospel preacher and a farmer. Ira's mother was John Dawson's second wife, Mary J. McMillan. She died while John was in prison during the war. After the war, John D. married my great-grandmother Nancy Ann Speer. I have this line back to John W. Dacus Sr. who MAY have been the son of William Dacus.
