I have not seen the original Dabney family Bible, but I have of course, seen the web based record on the Library of Virginia website indicating that George was the son of Cornelius Dabney and Molly Lane.
In an addendum to his application for a pension based upon his military service during the American Revolution, he states in a declaration dated 27 May 1833, that he was born in Hanover County, Virginia on the 15th of September 1760 and "agrees to the account of his father and mother and his uncle, Samuel Shrewsberry, in his said uncles Bible."
Samuel Shrewsberry had to be an uncle, therefore, by marriage. To which Dabney or Lane aunt was Samuel Shrewsberry married?
