I, myself, approaching a thousand years of intrepid age, have a faint recollection of having read in some ancient book that John Dabney Strother, my gggggrandfather, whose granddaughter Ann(Nancy) married Alexander Ashby, at times wrote Dabney as d'Aubigny....never d'Aubigne as many would like to have it (which would make them possibly kin to the morganatic wife of King Louis, was it the 14th?, of France).
